2016 Race Week Schedule


Wednesday, August 17th

  • 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Volunteer Appreciation Party at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds - Preregistration and RSVP is required 

Thursday, August 18th

  • 5:00 PM – 9:00 PMHealth & Fitness Expo and Number Pick-up OPEN
  • 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM - NBFRR Sports Medicine Symposium: Come for all or part of the talks! This symposium is offered to all medical personnel (even if you are not a medical volunteer) who are interested in road race medicine. **Pre-registration is required.**

Friday, August 19th

  • 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Health & Fitness Expo and Number Pick-up OPEN
  • 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM – Dr. Irene Davis, director of the Spaulding National Running Center, will be in the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network booth to offer running tips and evaluations

Saturday, August 20th

  • 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM – Health & Fitness Expo and Number Pick-up OPEN
  • 10:00 AM - Falmouth Walk at Town Hall Square 3.2 or 1.5-mile walk in downtown Falmouth

EXPO SPECIAL EVENTS: all Expo events will take place at the Special Events stage unless otherwise noted.

  • 9:30 AM - Team Hoyt - Inspirational Father-Son Wheelchair Duo, Rick & Dick Hoyt
  • 10:00 AM - Top Female Finisher at the 2016 Boston Marathon: Neely Spence Gracey on Getting the Most out of Running the NBFRR (happening outside at the Expo Entrance)
  • 11:00 AM - Optimizing Safety and Maximizing Performance During Running in the Heat with Dr. William Adams of the Korey Stringer Institute at UCONN
  • 12:30 PM - Race Director, Dave McGillivray with two-time Olympian Ryan Hall
  • 2:00 PM - Joan Samuelson on her 40th anniversary of her first Falmouth win
  • 2:30 PM - The Legends: Bill Rodgers and Frank Shorter join Joan Samuelson for a panel discussion 
  • 3:30 PM  “Bannister: Everest on the Track”; a new documentary on the historic race in which Roger Bannister became the first man to break the 4-minute mile. Speaking after the film: producer and director Tom Ratcliffe; Alan Webb, American Mile record-holder, and George Dole, who ran with Bannister in the ground-breaking 1954 race.   • The 44th running of the New Balance Falmouth Road Race
  • 5:45 AM - 7:45 AM – Buses, for runners only, from Lawrence Jr. High to the Start
  • 8:40 AM – Start of Wheelchair division, presented by Spaulding Rehabilitation Network 
  • 8:50 AM – Women elite start
  • 9:00 AM – Elite men and open start      
  • 10:45 AM – Awards ceremony
  • 11:30 AM – Course closes
